Doomadgee Student Exchange Tour Media Attention - November 2011
NPC helped fund, organise, and run the "Show Me Your World, and I'll Show you Mine" tour in November this year. The tour saw 12 young students from remote Indigenous community in north-west Queensland, Doomadgee, come to experience city and coastal life in south-east Queensland. For more information on this event, please see issue 6 of The Waanyi Wire. The event was very successful with a lot of positive feedback from both the community, and the students. The tour gained a lot of media attention with stories being published in Mt Isa's Northwest Star, The Koori-Mail, and the Courier Mail. The children also featured on Titans TV and the Surfing Australia web-page.

With Indigenous employment high on the national agenda due to the Generation One campaign The Australian launches a special on careers for Indigenous people and focus on NPC.
NPC wins a National Telstra Business Award - August 2010
Fresh from winning the Queensland Telstra Award, NPC has also won the national Sensis Social Responsibility award at a ceremony at the Sydney Opera House. It was an exciting night for the staff and board members who attended, as well as a tribute to the work done by all NPC staff over the years.

Civil construction trainees achieve 100% pass mark - April 2010
NPC's Civil Construction Work Readiness course, conducted in Ipswich, has achieved a 100 per cent graduation rate. Trainees now have the opportunity to get work on the Ipswich motorway and complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction. Read The Koori Mail's report.

NPC wins mining training award - September 2009
NPC has taken out a coveted innovation award for its training methods at Queensland's Mining Industry Skills Centre (MISC) awards held at the Brisbane Convention Centre. The award has further expanded NPC's reputation for achieving high-quality outcomes for Indigenous people.
NPC wins Smart Award - July 2008
Northern Project Contracting has won the Queensland Premier's Smart Award in the Rising Star category. NPC won the award for its contribution to Indigenous training and employment in the mining industry, beating 20 mainstream competitors. NPC Director Bradley Foster accepted the award on July 31. Waanyi Nation representatives Kevin Cairns and Gerald Aplin also attended the awards ceremony.
